The bars are constructed intheUnited States from 1.25 inch (31.75 mm) diameter stainlesssteeltubing with 0.079 inch (2.0 mm) wall thickness. Boasting morethantwice the stiffness compared to 1 inch (25.4 mm) diametersteeltubing， no other crash bar design on the market offers suchrobustprotection for the Africa Twin. This added strength enabledAltRiderengineers to design the Lower Crash Bars to take the firsthit in atip-over or low-side crash before any of the bikear’svitalcomponents come in contact with the ground. The hand-TIGweldedcrash bars are CNC mandrel formed around the rear brakelever forexcellent ergonomics while still providing powerfulprotection.The rear of the Lower Crash Bars mount in-board of the rightfootpeg by way of the 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) mounting flanges， whichwilltransfer impact energy away from the motor to the lower frame.Upfront， 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) thick stainless steel bracketsfastensthe bars directly to the frame.The Upper Crash Bars provide complete coverage for thebikear’svulnerable radiator and expensive plastic fairings. The 1inch(25.4 mm) diameter stainless steel tubing is hand-TIG welded intheUSA and mounts directly to frame rather than the enginecase.The Lower and Upper Crash Bars meet at 3/16 inch (4.8 mm)thickstainless steel mounting brackets， which tie to the frontsub-frameand headstock using included M6 bolts， a dramaticadvantage overall other designs on the market. This ensures a solidconnection tothe motorcyclear’s frame， especially when installed inconjunctionwith the Reinforcement Crash Bars. Once the upper systemis tied tothe stout 1.25 inch (31.75 mm) diameter lower bars thesystembecomes a robust roll cage-like solution and the strongestcrashbar protection option available.
